Build-up
I've been holding onto this post for HOURS:
If you give me a plant because you do not want to take care of it anymore, and you acknowledge that, and the plant sits on my desk for the next few weeks, it is NOT YOUR PLANT TO THEN THROW OUT BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T WANT ME TO HASSLE WITH IT!!!!!

So s/he gave you the plant then threw it away weeks later? That's so weird. File a complaint of theft with your human resources office. :D
Joanne, that's exactly it. Sigh. My life is hard.
And I haven't been able to comment on your site for AGES because Blogger takes too long. Makes me sad.
