Because I feel these same people have taken over the metro (read: subway) here and I am sick and tired of being pushed back INTO the train car I am trying to get OUT of. It's not going to leave without you, people! Take some vailum! The drivers are perfectly trained to wait for people to exit the car before taking off - which means you will have time to get on.
At the same time, I am tired of being pushed OUT of the metro car by people behind me when I am so obviously moving in thaty direction as well. Toppling me over and trampling me in order to leave the metro isn't going to make it any faster. I am lumpy, I'll slow you down worse than a speedbump, bub!

That is a HUGE peeve of mine.
Also, why is it that the first people on the elevator try to be the first people off? Is it a race?
